Platform Structure & Value
The Structure and Value
The Triton Trading Manager Platform combines the advantages of individual managed accounts with pooled investments, including hedge fund investments and commodity investments. The Platform also provides near real-time online investment tracking to qualified investors.
The key element of this investment system is the "structured managed account." Each structured managed account provides investors with the most attractive features of managed accounts and fund structures.
Leverage:
Investors are not required to fully fund the investments, which includes commodities investments, on the Triton Trading Manager Platform, but are required to in the manager's fund. For most managers on the Platform, the investor may achieve up to three or four times leverage on their cash invested, or, stated another way, can achieve 100% exposure by depositing 25% to 33% of the nominal trading level (to achieve maximum leverage). There is no borrowing cost associated with leverage for accounts containing futures or forex trading programs. The use of additional leverage is not suitable for all investors and can increase the risk of loss.
Trading:
An investor has semi-monthly liquidity with no lockups or redemption penalties for most investments on the Triton Trading Manager Platform.
At the same time, the Platform's structured managed accounts also offer advantages over traditional managed accounts themselves through:
- Limited Liability: Unlike direct managed accounts that can subject high net worth investors to potentially unlimited liability in the event of a market disaster, investors in the Triton Trading Manager Platform would only be subjected to limited loss (to the extent allowable by law).
- Efficiency: No need for long negotiations and credit review process. Investors will not need to make arrangements with a broker or negotiate fees with the trading advisor. Instead, investors will be able to easily make an investment in one or more trading advisors on the Triton Trading Manager Platform quickly without excessive paperwork.
Independent Performance Review and Verification
All managers on the Triton Trading Manager Platform have a third party administrator, with auditing performed by Deloitte & Touche.
Affordable investment minimums
All managers on the Triton Trading Manager Platform have affordable investment minimums, which allows for increased diversification by manager, strategy and sector exposures, at a lower overall investment amount.
Due Diligence and Risk Mitigation
Extensive, multi-level due diligence is conducted, before and after a manager is accepted on the Platform:
- Background investigations on trading advisors and relevant corporate officers.
- Operational due diligence: On-site manager meetings and comprehensive analysis of investment criteria including quantitative peer group rankings, trading strategy and operational quality.
- Investment guidelines: Pending satisfactory completion of operational due diligence, the risk group and trading manager agree to investment parameters prior to approval on the Platform and an account is established on the Platform for the manager to trade.
- Approval on Platform: Data feeds from the manager’s Platform trading account are fed into Platform’s technology solution, which allows the risk team to monitor the fund to ensure adherence to investment parameters. After the manager passes this monitoring stage (typically 6-8 weeks), the manager becomes a sponsored Platform fund and is eligible for investment.
- Due Diligence is ongoing, with quarterly calls, monthly manager briefs, performance monitoring and analysis 24/5 by dedicated risk team, additional on-site visits, and regular communication with principals.
